First time finalist nabs Colorado Governor’s Cup for best wine

The winery is actually a division of one of Colorado’s most well-known craft breweries.

The winner of the 2024 Governor’s Cup for best wine is actually a well-known Colorado craft beer brewery.

Well, a division of it at least.

The OBC Wine Project in Fort Collins, with winemaker Travis Green and assistant Genevieve Swartz, took the cup with its 2023 Colorado Red. It’s a division of Odell Brewing, and the wine bar is right next to the brewery.

Fox Fire Farms Honored as Colorado Centennial Farm

By Carole McWilliams :: Times Senior Staff Writer Fox Fire Farms on County Road 321 southeast of Ignacio received certification as a Centennial Midwest Wine Press

Fox Fire Winery won both Best of Show and Triple Gold for their 2012 Marquette at the Colorado State Fair. The winery also received a silver medal for their Traminette. According to Richard Parry, the owner of the Ignacio (Durango), Colorado winery, these were the only two hybrids entered in the Colorado State Fair competition.

Foxfire to be honored as Colorado Centennial Farm

Richard and Linda Parry display some of Foxfire Farm’s awards from past wine competitions. Two varieties won medals at the Colorado State Fair on Friday. Foxfire Farms’ Traminette white wine is a double gold winner in this year’s Governor’s Cup competition for Colorado wines and the only white wine on the double gold list. Awards were presented yesterday in Denver.

Foxfire Farms adds an acre of grapes to its vineyard every year and now grows several varieties of grapes.

Governor’s Cup Award

We are on our way to the 2016 Governor’s Cup wine tasting this year with a Double Gold for Fox Fire Farms 2015 Traminette. “The best white wine in the State of Colorado for 2016”

Our estate grown 2014 Marquette placed a Silver in the competition this year. Our Double Gold Medalist 2015 Traminette was enjoyed at the Governor’s Wine Tasting on August 4th.
